Britain’s furniture manufacturing output in July climbed 7 per cent year-on-year despite a drop in exports.

The Office for National Statistics said furniture producers’ turnover reached £708.6m as the third quarter began, with home demand up 8.5 per cent and exports down 12.7 per cent.

ONS’ latest numbers bring the year-to-date figure for 2015 to £4.61bn, up 8.3 per cent against the first seven months of 2014.
