Independent home furnishings specialist Roomes Furniture and Interiors enjoyed strong growth in the year to end January.

The heritage Upminster retailer—which was established 127 years ago in 1888—grew sales by 12.8 per cent to £6.7m in 2014–15.

Gross margin declined 50 basis points to 42.7 per cent, though its top line growth saw EBITDA more than double to £361,772 and pre-tax profits reach £178,170 (2014: -£34,415).

The privately owned Essex retailer generated a net £449,666 cash from operations (2014: £282,579) and ended the year with net funds up to £787,032 (2014: £478,192).

Shareholder funds increased to £5.4m (2014: £5.2m).
