Consumers in London are among those most predisposed to buying flat pack cabinet furniture, with customers in the North East of England the least likely.

That was one of the principal findings from the Flat Pack v Solid Pre-Built Furniture Survey, commissioned by ecommerce retailer Oak Furniture UK.

It discovered that 75 per cent of those surveyed said they favoured solid and pre-assembled furniture over flat pack kits. Across the age brackets, 83 per cent of over 55s preferred solid furniture, with that falling to close to a 50/50 split at the youngest age groups (18–24 year-olds).

Regionally, North East residents were those most likely to choose solid over ready-to-assemble (89pc) with residents of London and surrounding areas the places where consumers were more ambivalent.
