Electricals and Home Technology categories were up double-digit for department store mutual John Lewis as it entered the final week of its 2015–16 financial year.

The chain said high demand for TVs and small electricals like Nutribullet pushed its EHT category to 15 per cent growth in the seven days to 23rd January.

Home sales were up 3.6 per cent against the same week a year ago, matching the growth rate for the category over the 25 weeks of the second half of its financial year so far. Fashion was up 2 per cent.

Total sales for the seven day period reached £73.8m, up 7.1 per cent for the retail bellwether. Online sales were 22.3 per cent ahead with 18 of John Lewis shops open more than a year making year-on-year gains and 24 seeing declines.
