aramStoreExtModern furniture and lighting retailer Aram has remodelled part of its 20,000sqft Central London store with an eye on developing its business with the specifier market.

The basement of its Drury Lane, Covent Garden showroom has been completely refurbished, with the company opening a new space devoted solely to its contract offer.

Daniel Aram, son of Zeev Aram who founded the store in 1964, heads up the contracts division. He said: “The new contract space will enable us to give our clients the chance to view a wider range of furniture options.”

Besides selling to wealthy consumers, Aram — a dealer for brands including Arper, Cassina, Flos, Knoll, Fritz Hansen and Walter Knoll as well as being world licence holder for Eileen Gray designs — already has a significant contract business.

It has experience of supplying furniture for public buildings such as the National Portrait Gallery, retail installations including Westfield Shopping Malls, as well as commercial offices, restaurants, educational establishments and residential projects.

Daniel Aram added: “We can work with [customers] to create mock-up interior layouts in the new space to ensure the pieces work well in the finished environment.”

The design retailer added that its new contracts space would allow clients to view products that were not usually presented in London, adding that it planned to keep the basement space ‘fresh’ by regularly featuring guest products.
