tempurFlexThe UK md of memory foam pioneer Tempur says its new hybrid mattress programme will be available to UK retailers later this year.

Tobin James told the Furnishing Report the company was “excited to be launching Tempur hybrid in the UK during June.”

It comprises foam and precision coils, the first time the premium brand has incorporated innersprings in its mattress construction.

The product line — called Tempur Flex — was introduced to US customers last year, with an international version shown in Europe for the first time at the IMM Cologne show last month.

Mr James added: “We believe this new product will deliver strong growth for our retailers during the second half of the year.”

Worldwide, Tempur also plans to grow its direct business, outlining proposals to open 20 new company-owned stores including 18 outside the US, where the business is headquartered.

None of those new stores will be in the UK, with Mr James saying there are “no plans to open new Tempur stores in the UK during 2016.”
