Retailer Dunelm paid £4.8m cash to acquire the Fogarty bedding brand, the company revealed in its just filed interim accounts for the six months to 2nd January.

The figure — not previously disclosed — was part of a £20m capital investment by Dunelm in the first half of its financial year, with other spend allocated to new and existing stores and investment in warehousing.

157-store Dunelm announced it had acquired the brand rights of filled bedding supplier Fogarty, a key supplier, last October.

Under a 15-year licensing agreement, Dunelm granted the existing Fogarty management team the sole licence to manufacture and distribute Fogarty products within the UK and Ireland.

It also granted a non-exclusive licence to manufacture and distribute Fogarty products in other agreed foreign territories, each subject to royalty payments.
