Big-ticket furniture lines made the most year-on-year sales headway within the Home directorate at department store chain John Lewis last week.


The retailer said the category was up 6.4 per cent in the seven days to 13th February, as total Home sales moved forward by 3.1 per cent against Week 2 in 2014–15.


John Lewis said accents and gifts — which included its Valentine’s Day assortments — were up 3.5 per cent. Across the business, Electricals and Home Technology (+15.6pc) drove total sales gains of 7.0 per cent to £74.5m for the week. Fashion sales rose 2.9 per cent.
