Furniture logistics specialist Andrew Porter has announced two new management hires as part of a restructure designed to make the business more customer focused.


The company, headquartered in Chorley, has appointed Des Downie as home delivery manager and Christian Worsley as retail logistics manager.


Mr Downie worked for 16 years at Morris Furniture as operations manager and then general manager before its sale last summer.


“In my short time at Andrew Porter, we have increased the visibility of orders being routed and I’m currently integrating new handheld PDAs with the system to make our whole delivery process faster and smoother for both our customers and consumers,” he said.


Christian Worsley’s duties include managing retail deliveries, stock management and growth planning on behalf of a range of customers.


In a statement, md Tim Aspey said the restructuring of the furniture logistics department with an additional layer of management would result in a more customer-focused approach for the business.


He said: “Furniture logistics is a fast-paced industry and one which requires close attention to detail at every stage of the process. We have every confidence that Des and Christian have the skills and experience to take our customer offering to the next level.”
