The French owner of the non-UK Habitat retail business said first quarter sales were impacted by the November terrorist attacks in Paris.

Cafom group, which owns the chain and brand rights outside the UK, said three month Habitat sales to end December declined 7.2 per cent to €37.4m.

The attacks in Paris impacted sales by €2m, Cafom said, adding that it planned to consolidate its French operation with further Habitat shops at Toulon, Roncq and Metz.

Cafom also runs a distribution arm and ecommerce including DirectLowCost.com. It said total first quarter sales had declined 3.6 per cent to €107m.

Argos-owner Home Retail Group has the UK Habitat brand rights.
