The retailer has promoted from within its stores
National retailer Furniture Village has promoted Anthony Cato to the newly-created role of head of product management.

Furniture Village director Charlie Harrison said in a phone interview that Mr Cato would support the smooth running of the buying structure in his new role.

Mr Harrison, who oversees the retail buying team at director level following the buying reorganisation earlier this year, said his store background, like that of other team members, was a major positive.

Mr Cato started on the shop floor at Furniture Village before being promoted through store and regional manager roles. He was introduced to some of the company's suppliers at this week's Manchester Furniture Show.

Julian Cox, who had rejoined Furniture Village in the spring as part of its reorganisation, is now returning to Associated Independent Stores (see related) next month, taking up the role of director of furniture, designate. Mr Harrison said "Julian has left us on good terms."
