Julian Cox is rejoining Associated Independent Stores, the UK furniture industry's largest buying group, after a second spell with Furniture Village.


The well-known industry executive, who was furniture controller at AIS for two and a half years before joining Furniture Village this spring, returns to the Solihull buying group as director of furniture, designate.

He will report into Peter Mallinson, merchandise director — home, who is understood to be retiring in the spring of next year. His first day back will be August 6.

"We are delighted to welcome him back," AIS said in a brief statement.

Former Fenwick buyer Simon Davies, who joined AIS earlier this year as furniture controller with a particular brief for upholstery, has resigned.
