firaTesting, calibration and advisory services provider Exova Group has acquired FIRA International owner BM Trada in a deal worth around £22m.


The acquisition adds around 340 personnel operating in 16 countries to the Exova’s network of specialists worldwide, bringing the total to over 4,400.


John Willox, managing director of Building Products and Certification with Exova, said: “The acquisition of BM Trada extends our existing certification services, creating a truly global offering and broadening our support to customers in new growth sectors and markets worldwide.”


BM Trada is headquartered in Buckinghamshire and has revenue of around £20m, about a quarter of which is represented by its FIRA International subsidiary. Stevenage based FIRA has been part of BM Trada since the mid-1990s and provides a range of furniture industry services.


FIRA has written to customers saying the move will not change the service they have come to expect, but it will give them [customers] access to a wider scope of expertise.


It will also extend its services to other disciplines including, corrosion and protection, polymers, composites and metal technologies across sectors including aerospace, oil and gas and environmental sciences.
