The National Bed Federation has elected Ebrahim Patel, md at Leicester manufacturer Vogue Beds, as its next president.

Mr Patel takes over from Breasley Consumer Products md Stuart Hibbert, who has served the customary two years in the role. He has been an active member of the NBF since 1999 and on its executive board for the past eight years.

He said the NBF president’s role had evolved over time from being ceremonial, to one that is extremely active and focused.

“The last few years have seen some amazing achievements spearheaded by the presidents at the time — including The Bed Show, the Seven Year Hitch, the Code of the Practice and the Sales Academy — and I’ve been lucky to have been a part of that.”

Mr Patel added: “My role as president though will be about consolidation and continuing to progress the aims and aspirations of the NBF. I want to make sure that the NBF continues to provide a voice for our members and protect them from rogue traders and unscrupulous manufacturers.”

The NBF also elected three new directors to the executive board at its AGM: Shire Beds marketing director Fara Butt; Hypnos director James Keen and Silentnight Group md Steve Freeman.
