Privately owned beds and department store retailer SD Kells grew sales for a fourth successive year in 2014–15.

Year to end January sales climbed 6.8 per cent to £10.4m for the retailer, which has shops located across Northern Ireland including specialist bed departments in Enniskillen, Lisnaskea and Lurgan.

Sales growth has progressively improved over the past four years, with 2014–15 growth building on sales rises of 5.8 per cent, 4.6 per cent and 1.4 per cent in the three years immediately prior.

Despite the continued top line improvement, profits were marginally down on the previous year, dipping 3 per cent to £804k.

Gross margin dropped 10 basis points to 24 per cent while administrative expenses as a proportion of sales climbed by 70 basis points to 16.4 per cent.
