Martin Harris — son of Lord Harris — has launched his new Tapi carpets and floorings chain, with a slew of ex-Carpetright colleagues joining him on the retailer's launch board.

Mr Harris is Carpetright’s former group development director, and left the business around this time last year, coinciding with the announcement of Wilf Walsh’s appointment as CEO and his father stepping down as chairman.

Sir Harry Djanogly, a former Carpetright non-executive director, is to become Tapi chairman and heads a long list of associations with Britain’s largest floorcoverings retailer among the Tapi management.

Besides Martin Harris, the Tapi board is comprised of his brother Charles Harris, Philip Saunders, Garry Postle, Paul Jacobs, Terry Moore, Willem Tijink, Johanna Constantinou, Tracey Skea, Stephen Davies and Karen Knighton.

Almost all have links to Carpetright, including Mr Davies, who was previously responsible for the chain’s sales in southern England; Mr Moore, who was a divisional controller; Ms Constantinou, formerly Carpetright head of marketing for Europe, and Ms Knighton, who until December was Carpetright’s head of financial operations.
