kozeeSleepYorksAdministrators have laid off all bar 14 staff at collapsed Dewsbury mattress manufacturer Kozee Sleep Beds after failing to find a buyer.

KPMG’s Howard Smith and Jonny Marston were named joint administrators of the holding company — along with subsidiaries Hick Lane Bedding, Restus Beds and Hick Lane Properties — on 19th May.

The pair have told 160 of the firm’s 174 employees they are redundant as a result of them being unable to secure a going-concern sale. The remainder are assisting the administrators, though they didn’t say in what capacity or for how long.

Jonny Marston said: "Since our appointment we have established the business' financial position and conducted a sale of business process. Unfortunately it has not been possible to complete a going concern sale at this time and regrettably this means the workforce cannot be retained.”
