Home shopping ecommerce and mail-order group Shop Direct is to close its Woolworths website in under two weeks time.

The Liverpool based retail giant is to transition the site and its customer base — including the credit accounts of thousands of customers — to its sister store Very.

Very — launched in 2009 — has grown to become the most important arm of the Shop Direct group, usurping its heritage mail-order catalogue brand Littlewoods, and now trading with sales north of £800m.

The Woolworths website and IP were acquired shortly before Very launched, and carries a substantial furniture and beds programme spanning thousands of skus.

However, much of the big-ticket offer across both websites was either the same or sourced from the same suppliers and the Woolies product line is expected to be integrated into Very’s offer.
