Seven-day sales to 30th May were up 3.9 per cent to £82.1m across the department store chain, with Fashion (+10.6pc) the strongest performing category and Home Electricals (-5.6pc) the weakest.


John Lewis head of selling for its At Home store portfolio said: “Outdoor furniture continued its fantastic run. Beds certainly made the most of the bank holiday weekend with sales for the week more than double the previous year.


“All elements of Furniture and Furnishings, as well Cooking and Dining, also enjoyed a strong week.”
