Value bedroom and living room furniture retailer Silly Sids has acquired its longstanding premises on Balaclava Road in the Pear Tree area of Derby.

The firm agreed an unspecified six-figure funding package through Yorkshire Bank to buy the premises, after its landlord decided to auction off the site.

Silly Sids — which also offers dedicated delivery and assembly services for landlords and letting agencies — has been trading from the same Derby site for 30 years.

In recent years it has additionally traded from inside the former Debenhams department store at Victoria Street in the city centre. That was after Debenhams moved to the nearby Westfield Shopping Centre, since acquired and renamed Intu Derby.
