CUSTOM furniture maker Strachan grew profits for the second straight year in 2015–16 as costs fell. Sales were broadly flat.

The Leeds fitted furniture company, which makes its own cabinet furniture and supplies direct to the consumer, advanced pretax profits by over 24 percent to £705,458.

Sales moved 0.8 percent higher at £7.2 million in the year to end June 2016, with the company — in accounts signed off at the end of March — saying it was on track to open a new London showroom this year.

Year-end cash totalled £3.1 million (2015: £2.67 mill.) with the balance sheet value of the business rising to £5.44 million (2015: £5.32 mill.).
