HAVING goods delivered for free is more important than having them arrive next-day, according to a survey of online shoppers by drivers’ training course provider HGVtraining.co.uk.


Its survey of over 2,000 Internet shoppers found just 4 per cent placed next-day delivery top of their wish list, compared with 67 per cent who looked at the price of delivery.


More than half of those surveyed (57 per cent) said free delivery was important to them when shopping online, while over a quarter (26 per cent) looked for a good returns policy.


Gary Benardout, co-founder of HGVtraining.co.uk, said: “While most people wouldn’t say no to next-day delivery if it was offered, our research actually shows that it’s not a persuasive factor for the vast majority.”


In addition to low or free delivery, he added that it was flexibility, rather than speed, that customers wanted.
