Consumer price inflation for furniture and furnishings jumped 70 basis points in the year to February, a third straight rise.

 

The climb to 4.4 percent was the biggest month-to-month increase since August and means the rate has been rising since November, according to the figures from the Office for National Statistics.


Carpet and other floorcoverings consumer price inflation eased 30 basis points to 1.3 percent in the year to February, ending two straight months at 1.6 percent.


Overall consumer price inflation also narrowed 30 basis points in the year to February, ONS said, falling to 2.7 percent.
