THE owner of Wesley Barrell and Collins and Hayes acquired fabrics and furnishings business Rexmore Textiles Limited late last year.

Wessex Bristol Investments Limited, wholly-owned by Ayiaz Ahmed, assumed total control of the Essex based wholesaler late December from its private shareholders, primarily the Rosenblatt family.

Terms of the transaction are not known. The company wholesales soft furnishings products, including foam, polyester, fillings, and springs, as well as upholstery fabrics for domestic and contract markets.

Rod Dempster, finance director at sofa maker sister company Collins and Hayes, yesterday told The Furnishing Report that Rexmore sells mainly to non-group customers, but that “many of the products it sells are in common with those we use and that Wesley Barrell uses.”

He added: “I wouldn’t say Ayiaz has bought it purely just to fulfil our requirements, but the synergies will allow us to operate on a more cost-efficient basis, as well as Rexmore continuing to supply external customers.”
