FRENCH furniture retail and wholesale group Cafom has acquired compatriot home furnishings brand SIA Home Fashion and has plans to closely integrate it with its Habitat retail chain.

Founded in the 1960s and known for its artificial flowers and other decorative home accents, SIA products sell through around 500 worldwide stockists and last year generated sales of about €20 million.

Terms of the sale, which includes the brand and principal assets of the SIA business, have not been disclosed, with the size of the deal classed as not-material in a statement announcing the takeover.

Cafom hopes to make the most of the synergies between SIA and Habitat, whose brand rights the company holds for all markets save the UK and Ireland.

This includes transferring the logistics activities of SIA to its shared distribution centre at Amblainville, as well as integrating SIA products into the Habitat range and vice-versa.

Historically, the UK has been an important market for SIA, generating annual revenues in the order of £5 million.
