Victoria PLC has appointed Michael Scott as group finance director, saying his experience will be beneficial is it continues its acquisitive expansion strategy.

Mr Scott, 35, joins after eight years at Rothschild where — as part of its Global Financial Advisory business — he worked across a wide range of public and private company transactions, mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity-related fund raising.

Diversified floorcoverings supplier Victoria PLC, headquartered at Kidderminster, has bought the Westex, Interfloor, Abingdon, Whitestone Weavers and Quest Carpets businesses in the past 18 months.

Mr Scott has not been a director of any other companies in the previous five years, Victoria PLC said in a statement to shareholders.

Executive chairman Geoff Wilding said: “After a comprehensive search, we are delighted to announce the appointment of such a strong candidate in Michael Scott to Victoria. He brings a wealth of very relevant experience that will be highly beneficial as we continue to execute our strategy of both organic and acquisitive growth.”
