North London rugs distributor Asiatic Carpets posted a fifth straight rise in sales and almost doubled profits in 2016–17.

 

The wholesaler — founded in 1960 and privately-owned by the Kelaty family — made £2.9 million before tax in the year to end March 2017.


That was an 85 percent increase on the previous year, with its earnings uplift driven by a 14 percent hike in sales to £19.8 million.


Revenue at the business has climbed more than £10 million in five years, and last declined in 2011–12.
