The company behind the Flooring Superstore brand built out sales and profits in 2016–17 ahead of it upping its multichannel presence.


The ecommerce retailer — a trading name of privately-owned Connection Retail — grew sales 9.2 percent to £18.7 million to end March 2017.

Pretax earnings for the County Durham business were up 6.1 percent to £402,771 in a period described by directors as a "strong year in a very difficult economic climate."

January 2017 saw the launch of a trial store, with Flooring Superstore now operating four retail park units, at Newport, Swindon, Edinburgh and Keighley.

Connection Retail's subsidiary Connection Flooring also operates brands including Direct Wood Flooring and Grass-Direct, which each operate from ten UK stores.
