Mohawk operates dozens of brands worldwide, including Quick-Step
Sales outside North America jumped 18 percent for Mohawk Industries, the world's biggest floorcoverings supplier, in the first quarter of 2018.

 

It posted revenue of $585 million (£432m) in the three months to end March for its Flooring Rest of World product segment, with 14 percent of the uplift down to currency gains.


The Atlanta, U.S based business — owner of brands such as Quick-Step, Pergo and dozens of others — said it enjoyed strong growth in luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and ceramic flooring outside the U.S.


Worldwide sales advanced 8.6 percent to $2.41 billion (£1.78bn) for the group, which operates across all flooring segments, including laminate, tile, LVT and carpets.


Q1 net income was down 1.2 percent to $280.1 million (£207m), largely because of currency translation adjustments, with it making lower gains compared with the previous year. Underlying profits climbed compared with the first quarter of 2017.
