Designer Contracts will near treble the size of its central distribution depot with a move to a larger site in the Midlands next spring.

The North Derbyshire based floorcoverings contractor says its new Kettering site will offer a significant increase in height and three times the storage capacity.

Its new unit — which will also became the base for Designer Contracts’ South & East Midlands regional office — spans 109,000sqft, up from 44,000sqft at its nearby existing site.

The firm says it expects to employ around 50 staff at the facility, which is likely to be and running by early spring next year.

“The extra space allows us to accommodate a second state-of-the-art cutting machine and sortation system — helping us respond to the most demanding of schedules,” said md Peter Kelsey.

He added: “With business continuing to grow, especially within the housebuild, social housing and rental sectors, this move will allow us to continue to offer our customers an unrivalled selection of products — at the quickest of turnarounds.”

Designer Contracts says accounts for the year to end October will show growth of 16 per cent to £30m.
