Dunelm posted rising sales and profits in 2014–15 as it made the most of its existing and new stores and its burgeoning online business.

The out-of-town homewares retailer opened 12 new stores — including a high street relocation — on its way to increasing revenue by 14.5 per cent to £835.8m in the year to 4th July.

Statutory pre-tax profits were up 5.7 per cent* to £122.6m.

Dunelm ended the period with 148 superstores and has since opened another, with contracts signed for nine more.

Like-for-like sales rose by 5.8 per cent with in-store like-for-likes rising by 3.4 per cent. Home delivery sales were up 55 per cent to about £51m with a further improvement expected following the July relaunch of its website.

Dunelm sells 17,000 homeware lines online and through reserve and collect, while online also includes some 700 furniture products.
