THE GROUP behind the Curtina and Dreams n’ Drapes soft furnishings brands near trebled profits in 2014–15 on higher sales and the acquisition of Delbanco Meyer & Company’s linen business.

Accounts for Manchester based J Rosenthal Holdings Ltd show turnover climbed 6.5 per cent to £31.1m, with underlying sales — stripping out the business acquired last May — up 3.8 per cent to £30.3m.

It paid £888,345 to acquire DM & Co’s linen business, part of which is contingent on future profits, adding £791,333 to group revenue in the reviewed period. Pro-rata, the annualised total was just under £2m.

J Rosenthal’s pretax profit was up 189.3 per cent to £1.33m with year end cash of £673,052 (2014: £452,855) and net debt falling to £7.3m (2014: £8.4m).
