THE NORTH East furniture chain trading as Beautiful Homes has restructured and is trading via a new company.

The business — which operates stores at Sunderland, Ashington, Blaydon, Chester-le-Street and Bishop Auckland — is trading through the newly created Brizel Limited company.

That was incorporated late last year, with Brian Baker currently listed as its sole director. He is a former director of Beautiful Homes (Newcastle) Limited, which liquidated through insolvency outfit O’Hara’s late December 2016.

Beautiful Homes (Newcastle) creditors faced a shortfall of more than £800,000, according to a statutory filing at Companies House, with a different director the largest non-Crown creditor. A handful of furniture trade suppliers were owed five-figure sums (see Debt Report, Jan. 27, 2017 update).

Up to three other stores, including a showroom in Newcastle, are thought to be no longer open, with no-one answering any of the numbers for those stores when The Furnishing Report called.
