THE CLOSURE of Harrogate interior design retailer Margaret Jane Interiors has left creditors facing a deficit north of £800,000 according to statutory filings.

The company—which traded as James Brindley and was formerly called Cinnamon Bay Interiors—was placed into liquidation through Begbies Traynor on May 25, 2017.

The Albert Street store in the North Yorkshire town is thought to have closed earlier than that, back in April.

The licensor of the James Brindley brand, Mark Grafton, is listed as being owed £420,000 by the now-liquidated Margaret Janes Interiors business, with the company shareholder and family the next largest creditor, owed over £80,000 combined.

Furnish & Fettle, an unrelated company, took over the interior design division of James Brindley earlier this year, including its full range of pattern and fabric books and its interior design team, it said in a statement on its website.
