SOFT furnishings chain Linens Direct has filed a notice of intent to appoint administrators, according to trade journal Retail Week.

The Essex-headquartered retailer—privately owned by Mark Zeff, who left the trading board last week—trades from 34 stores, and sells a mix of furnishings spanning bedding to other household textiles.

It lost £149,862 before tax on revenue down 2.2 percent to £18 million in the year to January 2016, having made £2.5 million on £18.4 million the previous year.

Barclays holds security over the assets of the business, which continues to trade.
