Year to end February sales declined 3.1 per cent to £6.8m for the London based retailer, which trades from 21 showrooms across Britain in locations spanning Edinburgh to Plymouth.

Futon Company sells modern styled seating and bedding with six of its showrooms sited within the capital. Gross margin fell sharply — by 280 basis points to 53.6 per cent — with pre-tax profits dropping 64 per cent to £88k.

It generated a net £472k cash from operations (2013: £243k) with year-end net funds rising to £661k (2013: £440k).
