furniture123The ecommerce group behind Furniture123 took sales past £100m as it grew its top line for a second successive year in 2013–14.


Sales jumped 11.1 per cent — or £10m — to £100.6m in the year to end March for Huddersfield based Buy It Direct.


The Yorkshire retailer bought Furniture123 — the UK’s first ecommerce furniture retailer — late in 2012, adding it to its portfolio of online stores selling merchandise spanning consumer electronics to appliances.


Other websites run by the group include DirectTVs, LaptopsDirect and AppliancesDirect. Pre-tax earnings declined 40 per cent to £317k, which the firm said was down to unspecified one-off costs.


Year end net cash was maintained at £2.4m while the balance sheet value of the business increased to £4.8m (2013: £4.7m).
