Online sales were up by more than a quarter at John Lewis last week supported by price-matching activity.


Internet revenue climbed 27 per cent as total sales across the chain rose 7.6 per cent to £74m in the seven days to 28th February.


Its online sales jump lifted the year-to-date increase in Internet sales to +19.1pc, and helped make up for weakness across its stores.

24 of its 40 shops open more than a year were down against the same week in 2014.


Home category sales were strong — rising 10.3 per cent — with upholstery, beds and floorcoverings singled out in its weekly commentary.
