home24Online furniture retailer Home24 will smash through the €200m sales barrier in 2015 with nine month sales to end September already passing its full year total for 2014.

The pan-European furniture firm said year-to-date sales reached €172.3m over the first three quarters of 2015, up 63.8 per cent on last year and well ahead of the €160m total racked up in all of last year.

Berlin headquartered Home24 also said it has committed €12m to capital expenditure so far in 2015, just over half of which on property, plant and equipment (€6.1m) with the remainder (€5.9m) on intangible assets.

The retailer announced it was buying rival retailer Fashion for Home last month (see related). Home24 didn’t specify if its €12m investment included this acquisition or if it related to earlier spend.

Nine-month gross margin declined 40 basis points to 37 per cent, with the heavily invested in company posting an adjusted EBITDA deficit of €56.2m, more than double the figure at the same time last year (9m 2014: €27.2m).

Total customer numbers reached 2 million, with 900,000 of those considered active, having placed at least one order over the past 12 months.
