BFM, the British Furniture Manufacturers association, has supported the launch of an online database that will help companies to employ disabled people.

The online facility was developed by the Technological Centre of Furniture and Wood of the Region of Murcia (CETEM) together with the partners, including BFM, as part of the international SupportAbility project.

The database gives organisations access to a wealth of information and resources on issues including recruitment, employment, support, compliance and training and will "provide valuable information to furniture industry bosses who are currently — or are planning to — employ disabled people," said md Jackie Bazeley.

She added: "We are about to start the next phase of the project, with the aim of creating a curriculum to further support managers, peers and mentors."
