Hayden Davies, the former longtime leader of furniture test house FIRA International, has been installed as the Master of The Furniture Makers' Company.


He became the City of London livery company and industry charity's 57th Master following a ceremony on Monday, succeeding Dr Tony Smart MBE.

haydenDaviesMr Davies, pictured, was a director and part-owner of BM Trada when the testing and certification organisation acquired FIRA in 1996, beginning a long association with the furniture industry. He was admitted as a liveryman of The Furniture Makers’ Company in 2000.

He said: "This year my focus will be membership and belonging — not just encouraging more members to join our ranks, but making sure as many people as possible from across the industry engage in our activities."
