The owners of the largest furniture, home accents and gift trade fairs in the United States are to merge, creating the world's largest operator of home goods events.

International Market Centers (IMC), which runs the biannual High Point and Las Vegas furniture shows, is to combine with AmericasMart, which operates home décor, gift and accents fairs out of property in Atlanta.

Robert Maricich, the current CEO of IMC, will head up the combined entity. In prepared remarks, he said: "IMC has always had immense respect for AmericasMart and its founders, the Portman family, who established a tremendous reputation in the industry.

"We look forward to bringing together our two companies to provide exhibitors with exceptional access to global markets, and buyers with even more convenient opportunities to explore top products across sectors."
